Current Employment Opportunities

Office Assistant, Middle School – Full time, begins August 2021.  
The Office Assistant responsibilities include greeting all visitors, maintaining a professional office, preparing communications, assisting with technology needs, supporting students, teachers and administrators.  Health room responsibilities are also required on a periodic basis which include tending to sick or injured students and assisting with health room processes.
 
Position hours are 7:30 to 4:00 M-F. Wage is $15 per hour. The position is supervised and evaluated by the principal. Children of employees may qualify for enrollment into Summit pending available space. 
The elements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position:
 
  • A college degree 
  • Experience working directly with students, preferably in an academic setting
  • Strong skills in collaboration, coordination, technology, and organization
  • An understanding and passion for working with middle school students 
  • Spanish language abilities a plus 
  • A dedication to supporting students in academic pursuits

6th-8th Grade Art Teacher  – part-time (0.5 FTE) to start in August 2021.  

The art teacher is a specialist responsible for educating each student in their charge and working with students, parents, teachers and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the Summit mission. This assignment includes teaching: stagecraft, ceramics, drawing/cartooning, sculpture and photography.  The teacher is supervised and evaluated by the principal. 

The elements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities desired for this position:

  • BA/BS in a related field, with an advanced degree in education or art desired; teaching certificate a plus
  • Experience teaching art desired
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in the field of art
  • Expertise in curriculum development, assessment practices and 21st century learning skills
  • Strong collaboration, coordination and organization skills
  • Ability to assess grade level needs utilizing Summit’s standards and benchmarks
  • Expertise in technology applications and instructional technology practices (Schoology, Google Apps for Education a plus)

Job Title: French Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Teacher - French, Summit Middle Charter School – full time, begins August 2021.
The French teacher is a subject-area specialist responsible for educating each student in his or her charge and working with students, parents, teachers, and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the Summit mission.
Responsible for teaching French all grade levels 6th, 7th, & 8th. School day schedule 8:00 to 3:05. The
teacher is supervised and evaluated by the principal. The elements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position:

● BA/BS in a related field, with an advanced degree in education or French preferred; teaching
certificate a plus
● Three years of experience teaching middle school French preferred
● Expertise in the field of French and common core standards-based instructional design
● Expertise in curriculum development, assessment practices and 21st century learning skills
● Ability to reach middle-level French learners through engaging French language learning
practices, understanding of French speaking cultures, and skill at teaching in the target language
● Strong collaboration, team-based communication, coordination and organizational skills
● Ability to assess grade level needs utilizing Summit’s standards and benchmarks
● Expertise in technology applications and instructional technology practices
● Experience in distance learning practices

Job Title: Business Manager
Reports To: Principal
Business Manager - Middle School – Full time, begins July 30, 2021. Position open until filled. Full time work schedule is 220 days. Salary range $50K-$56K  (DOE) 
 
The Business Manager works closely with the Principal and administrative team to uphold and enact the mission of the school.  The Business Manager is responsible for business functions of the school including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and a variety of other duties as assigned.

  • A BA/MA in accounting, public administration, or a related field  
  • School accounting and budgeting experience 
  • Three years of successful school based or business job experience
  • Charter school experience a plus
